Aims and scope

Journal of Disaster, Stress and Trauma Studies is an international refereed journal publishes quarterly online open access by KMF for collating and distributing original research into social aspects of natural hazards, disasters and related psychological trauma. This journal recognises the multi-disciplinary nature of research and practice into social dimensions of disasters and disaster-related trauma. It seeks to attract contributions from academics and practitioners from diverse professional backgrounds, including mental health, physical and geological sciences, social sciences, and health and welfare services. It aims to foster a broad interrogative dialogue between philosophy, psychoanalysis, and literary criticism and develop new approaches to the study of trauma in literature and the trauma of literature. The mission of the journal is to encourage philosophical, political, and historically oriented research that takes literature as the primary site for investigations into trauma in all its forms and manifestations. Papers focus on theoretical formulations, research, treatment, prevention education/training, and legal and policy concerns. Journal of Disaster, Stress and Trauma Studies serves as a primary reference for professionals who study and treat people exposed to highly stressful and traumatic events, such as war, disaster, accident, violence or abuse, hostage-taking, or life-threatening illness. The journal publishes original articles, brief reports, review papers, commentaries, and, from time to time, special issues devoted to a single topic.

Journal of Disaster, Stress and Trauma Studies is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics. KMF takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. KMF takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy. To verify the originality of content submitted to our journals, we use latest software to check submissions against previous publications.
