Journal of Criminology and Social Justice

Aims and scope

Journal of Criminology and Social Justice is an international refereed, online open access journal of criminology and criminal justice, promoting evidence-based public policy in crime prevention, and comparative studies on crime and criminal justice. The Journal provides a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas among criminologists, policymakers, and practitioners, by publishing papers relating to crime, crime prevention, criminal law, medico-legal topics and the administration of criminal justice. The focus is on theoretical and methodological papers with an emphasis on evidence-based, empirical research addressing crime. It presents research from a broad variety of methodological traditions, including quantitative, qualitative, historical, and comparative methods. Its multi-disciplinary approach spans a range of disciplines, including criminology, criminal justice, law, sociology, psychology, forensic science, social work, urban studies, history, and geography. It furthers this aim by publishing original scholarship from around the world.  To this end, the journal welcomes full-length articles, research notes, and reviews of books, films and other media from those working across the criminology and justice all parts of the world. Priority is given to methodological, comparative and theoretical advances. The journal also publishes occasional special issues. Its special thematic issues contribute to the confrontation of scholarly perspectives on overlooked problems – a must-read for faculty, doctoral and graduate students.

Subject Areas

Journal of Criminology and Social Justice consistently covers a wide array of subject areas, including criminology, criminal justice, law, sociology, psychology, forensic science, social work, urban studies and more. The journal promotes evidence-based public policy in crime prevention, and comparative studies on crime and criminal justice, Journal of Criminology and Social Justice welcomes papers based on original research, critical policy debates and comparative analyses. Submissions and subscriptions are open to all.

Journal of Criminology and Social Justice is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics. KMF takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. KMF takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy. To verify the originality of content submitted to our journals, we use latest software to check submissions against previous publications.
